Deputy Secretary Jason Habedank joined the department in February 2024 as Director of IT Services, bringing over 25 years of IT and leadership experience. He has led efforts to align resources, adopt best practices, and drive innovation for the state.

Jason has over 13 years of experience as an attorney for the State of New Mexico. Before joining DoIT, Jason was the Director of Court Operations for the New Mexico Administrative Office of the Courts. He advised and trained judges across the state and oversaw administrative functions for state and municipal courts. Prior to that, Jason worked as a Public Defender in Carlsbad and Santa Fe.

John Padilla rejoins the Department of Information Technology leading key initiatives affecting enterprise services. John held a previous tenure with DoIT (2007-2017) and the Health Care Authority (formerly HSD).

Jason Johnson brings 25 years of experience working in information technology to the role of Chief Digital Officer for the State of New Mexico Department of Information Technology. Prior to this position, Jason served as Executive Director of Technology for Albuquerque Public Schools from 2013 to 2019.

Renee has 18-years of professional experience in mass communication. While working for DoIT, Renee helped build and design the new branding and website for the department, received training as a SharePoint Power User, Content Manager for the website, and assisted DOH during the COVID-19 emergency.

Jeff Lopez
Director
Jeffrey Lopez brings over 12 years of federal experience in support of New Mexicans. Prior to this appointment, Lopez served as senior policy advisor and state staff to U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján. Lopez managed the senator’s role as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Communications, Media, and Broadband and worked directly on legislation that created the federal Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program, through which New Mexico is receiving $675 million to connect unserved and underserved households across the state.
