Roadrunner Report

Roady the Roadrunner
The Department of Information Technolgy is grateful for the energy our employees bring everyday.
Where are our Roadrunners?
Each roadrunner embodies the dedication and progress driving DoIT’s Mission.
Hard work, collaboration, trust and teamwork are the building blocks that make an impact at DoIT. Each milestone achieved is a reflection of the collective passion and purpose driving DoIT forward, with employees at the heart of it all.
“Every time I enter the room the party starts.”
“I love that I get to hellp people statewide.”
“I work as a webmaster, administrator and programmer fixing problems and making things easier for users.”

Roadrunner Award 2025
Leslie handed Chappi the Roadrunner to Ken O’Dell who has been with the Department of Information Technology since 2008. He started as a Security Guard and moved into his role as Facilities/Security Manager. Anytime he walks into the room now, you need to sing the song, “Get the Party Started” by Pink, because let’s be honest, Ken is the life of the party. His favorite cartoon character is Pepe Le Pew, and if his life was a sitcom, it would more than likely be “The Office.” Not because he works in one every day, but his family says that he is very much like the character Michael Scott! On the weekends you may catch him enjoying the tacos and a Swirl from Tomasita’s. When asked the state question, his answer is RED, but he’ll eat green if he must.

Roadrunner Award 2025
Luis Terrazas handed over Craig the Roadrunner to Nick. For those of you with kids in middle or high school age, you’ll likely giggle when I tell you Nick has been with DoIT for 6 going on 7 years. 6-7
… for those of you who don’t understand, just know your brain is not rotted and that’s a good thing!
Nick’s title is officially Sr. Business Operations Analyst. We can all agree he is the doer and helper of all things around the Simm’s building. And he loves that he gets to help people, not just within our agency but multiple agencies statewide. Who wouldn’t love Nick’s idea of making a chore fun, doing those pesky dishes that never end! He loves a perfectly cooked steak and would likely try one during a European tour. But if he needed to settle for one cooked here, he may get it Xmas style! Red and Green for him.

Roadrunner Award 2025
Dave Dikitolia offered an award to Shahzad Shah thanking him for his ongoing support of the EPMO webpages.
Shahzad’s been with the State of New Mexico 24 years and 12 of those have been here at DoIT! Shahzad’s official title is Associate IT Applications Dev, and he describes his job as webmastering, administrating and programming. He’s most proud of designing and implementing a utility that automatically downloads the switches data and transforms it into data acceptable by Pinnacle. This saves several days over the manual process. His favorite cartoon character is ironically THE Roadrunner… which is likely why he named our 3rd bird Tech Meep Meep.
His favorite meal is a medium rare steak and if he could travel anywhere in the world, he’d go all the way to New Zealand. Maybe he’ll visit the town of Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu Yes that’s a real word! And He’s gone against the grain being the first person to choose Green over red.
